Why This Blog

Tagged:

Several events motivated me to create this group blog. First, several months ago Joey and I discussed the possibility of doing something like this, but I never got around to setitng it up. Then, last week Kip mentioned that he'd been having some interesting discussions with a muslim colleague and that he thought it would be a good idea to have some sort of inter-faith lunchtime discussion. Finally, Mark posted to his blog a rant of sorts about evolution and creationism.

Thus, this seemed like a good time to try to get this started. See the "About" page (link ) for a little more about what I have in mind.

Here is a link to Mark's blog post: link

I'll reproduce that post and the responses here to seed this blog.

Mark seems to want to discuss Creationism vs. Darwinism.  This is O.K. with me.  I would prefer to see topics like this fully argued - sort-of one at a time.  My experience has been that folks in discussions like this tend to jump around, leap too far off topic, etc.  We are above all this, we are all able to handle serious discussion - sticking to facts and logic.

1. I propose that we discuss one topic at a time.

2. I propose that we carefully consider the appropriate first topic.

Thanks for the blog Jonathan,

Joey

Joey,

I agree that it's generally a good idea to be deliberate, focusing on deep issues one at a time.  On the other hand, if the threads are lighter or clearly unrelated, it wouldn't to not be too strict on the one-at-a-time.

I'll have you know that was a concise and well-reasoned expression of dismay. At no point did I use the words or phrases that I REALLY wanted to use! Eye-wink
True, "rant" wasn't an accurate description...we're already establishing the limited breadth of my vocabulary. Smiling

OK, I see that I am not navigating correctly.  Sorry, I will read.  JS
